Salt Water Sandals

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

I have wanted these sandals for nearly 2 years.  I heard about them from a friend who saw the heels of my beloved Birkenstocks worn down after 5 months and so she introduced me to Salt Water Sandals.
Top: Joules
Skirt: Pepe Jeans (old)

Salt Water Sandals originated from the United States by the Hoy Shoe Company in 1940s as footwear for children.  Due toWorld War II shortages they were made from scrap leather from the making of men’s shoes.  The company made sandals children until recently where they expanded the shoe for women.

Why Salt Water Sandals
They are known for their durability and ability to survive constant wear in salt water.

Wearing Salt Water Sandals
I had been eyeing these sandals online for ages and fell more and more in love with them but when I first held a pair I was slightly shocked by the flatness and simplicity in design as they are priced at £55 by most UK retailers. However the sandals are very comfortable and practical.  If you have olive or dark skin I would suggest applying moisturiser on your feet before wearing because the leather rubbing against your feet can highlight dry areas.  The sandals come in various colours and if I could justify buying another pair right now I would buy a pair in gold.

The bump is beginning to show in that picture :)

Bodysuit: American Apparel
